Week 14, 15 & 16...A Sum up for the Whole Experience

Alright… I guess this should be the last post to sum up my attachment at IKEA HR.
Well for the past 4 months… it is not a wonderful experience but also a enjoyable one, I am really thankful to Jazreel, Christina and Poh Yuen for giving me the chance to work with them and really treated me like a colleague rather than a student attachment.
Thank You Jazreel for giving me the chance to experience Human Resource. Thank you for having me in the department, I have always wanted to have a taste of how things work in Human Resource.
Thank you Christina for been a really wonderful “Da Jie” and also a Mentor to me. You have really taught me many things and really I enjoyed all your “Lectures” and also all the small and big talks we have. Thank you for sharing your experience with me and I am really grateful of all the time, effort and very importantly the trust that you have placed on me.
Thank you Poh Yuen for always there to help me out whenever I am caught into problem that I could not handle. Sorry if I have always been a trouble when it comes to my clocking in and out for lunch or for work. Thanks you for sharing with me the processes of recruiting a co-worker to IKEA and also giving me the chance to go through the experience to be a Recruiter in IKEA.
Overall I think it’s not only a meaningful and fruitful experience but I believe the memories that were shared and created during the attachment process will be the most invaluable one. I am really glad that I am able to be attached to IKEA and I hope in the future more people could go through the same form of experience as me and it will definitely be beneficial for the student in the future when they really step out into the working world.

week 12

wooo....It been a busy week.... Ok maybe not that busy... manage to meet up with the LO last week...and updated him about the report that i have done for IKEA... Mr Lee is kind enough to guide me through on how i should improve on my report to make it stand out when i submit to the school. Will be working on the report for the school while preparing the presentation that will be made to the HR managers and the executive.

A bit more to go and the last lap will be complete.

Week 11

Hmm last week is rather a test for me. As manager is away for the whole week thus I am
Very much on auto pilot mode last week. I am in the process of workin on the report that is for the department head of customer relation department. Very thing is going smoothly as planned so let see how things goes after I give myreport to the department head

It just 5 more weeks toward the end of my internship it has really been fruitful and fun throughout the pass 11 weeks

10th Week of Intern

Time is running short and things getting more intense... a bit more to go for my major projects, will be having meetings with the managers this coming week.too many things in mine.

Trying to get things work out but its just doesn't help...Kinda helpless but what to do?
Kinda tired and reletent to go anything already.But well Not like i am going to give up so easily... I want to see all those happy faces when people recieve the voice gift. I want to see all those happy faces when all my friends are free from all the burden. I may be dumb to carry all the weight myself but non will understand my way of doing things ...

9th Week

Hmm this week was rather busy with all sorts of things. kinda lag behind but well it is quite a fufiling week for me.
went through a 2 day training, what is most interesting and had touch me would be the story of "Famnig" it make me feel glad and proud that i am working in this company who really care about the people and i really mean PEOPLE as a whole. no matter who you are.

The story of Famnig to summaries would be

a supplier in india had some product defect in their children toy and IKEA had to recall all the toys back and stop the supply of the toy, it would end up causing 600 people losing their job. But kind enough a designer went ahead to the supplier and solve the issue and create a new product instead. thus not only the 600 worker kept their rice bowl , the company were able to survive this crisis.

Its a awesome story that i only knew till today.

Looking forward for more stories and challenges ahead.
It shall be a more awesome week ahead

8th Week of Intern

Wow ... just in a poof half the period of intern is over... things went smooth and well. hmm maybe not that smooth for certain stuff, but well its something that is out of ikea control so i think i should be following up on that the coming week.

hmm the logbook is getting harder and harder to write everyday, have always been cracking my head on what to include on the log book. but so far everyday there is always something new for me to experience and learn and i am greatful for that.

upcoming week i will be completing the last section of the analysis and i will be meeting up with the managers to discuss futher on how can the department work on improving their staff skills and knowledge to provide better services

well a LITTLE MORE TO GO and i will reach the end point...

way to go

looking forward for more and i should be starting to train up for my Standard Chartered run =)

Week 7 of internship

6th Weeks of Internship

HAH...been through quite abit this week

this whole week have been using to prepare my Heart Training and conducting it...

its a experience i would say. even though the feedback from the participant are quite ok...but i think there is more that i can do to provide better learning experience for them and its part of honing my personal presentation skills.

thanks to my Christina my supervisor who is there to guide me along and gone through and share with me her experience.if she wasn't there to cover what i had missed out during the training i doubt the training could end so well and proper.

now i need to push all my focus on my major project...
so far everything have went well...looking forwards for more to come...

5th Week of Internship

Times past really fast...without much notice...it been 5 weeks already...good thing is i only have 11 weeks left...bad thing is also i have 11 weeks left..

Well i have much to accomplish within this 11 weeks
my Major project is on the progress...going through my Analysis stage for the 1st section i am looking through... i think there are quite abit to look into for this section...

Coming thur would be my turn to conduct training...excited and kinda worried...well its gonna be exciting to be able to train other ppl and share my knowledge...worried is more to if this training do not goes well...it not only wasted manhours it also wasted the time of those who attended and not learn something....

well i should spent more time to prepare for this training...=)

Its been fun,exciting...everyday there is always something interesting that is happening...actually i think its all about the people you are working with i guess...looking forward to everyday new excitment =)

4th Week of Internship

well...its been quite a fun and busy week for me...but it's so exciting...=)

been into a meeting with so many Assistant Managers...join them into the discussion and even get to voice out my opinion even though i am just a normal worker...i think this is just the culture of IKEA...it does matter who you are, everyone have equal status when it comes to work...this will remove the barrier of not voice-ing out what is not good and what could be improved....

3rd Week of Intern

well time flies....maybe thats for those we enjoy the things they are doing...

this week...went through quite abit too...

i was introduce to the recuitment process...well never know the whole cycle of hiring a proper staff would take around 1 to 2 months...but after knowing wat is going on ,actually 1 to 2 months might be rather short already.

next i was taught on staff leave benefit...then process medical claims...=)

learn quite abit this week... looking forward to next week

very soon its my day to hold my very first training...time to prepare myself for the not short not long 3hr training !!!

2nd Week of Internship

Hmm... another week just fly off like that... well so far i think that i am having fun in HR Dept..

I learn quite a lot this week.

i prepared Training Evaluation Summary for all trainer who conducted training.the summary will help them understand better how were the training they conducted and feedback from the participant on hwo the trainer can improve on their delivering skills

for my major project.
the Learning Needs Analysis that i research and study on last week helps me understand how to build up and evaluate what is needed for the training.

for my minor project (conduct a 3 hr training about improving customer service)
got a new assignment this week on Adult Learning. so i reached on Malcom Knowles and also Adult Learning Principal.

So well... i think this week have went through fast. time to work on my assignment =)

1st Week of Internship

Initially was rather worried due to the fact that i do not have any knowledge nor any HR background.It am glad that i am attach to wonder mentor who taught me a lot throughout the week.They were all fun and nice to work with...randomly we can just crack joke out of the blue...
With their help i got adjusted to the environment quickly.Through out this week i have been through many things.
E.g like:

Finalising my Major Project (Analysing Possible Future Training Programme)

Taking up Minor Project (Conducting a 3Hr Training about Improving Customer Service)
quite looking forward to the 3 hr training i gonna conduct...well i have to start my preparation and planning for the training.

Working on all those admin work like updating the Training record database...

Overall, i enjoy myself due to all my collegues around me. they never fail to assist me whenever i raise any question.They through with me the details about different part of HR.Now i have a clearer pciture about what am i going through. LOoking forward to every single weekday now =) WOOHOO...

Last Tutorial



Our Last Tutorial would be about Risk Assessment

Firstly we list down issues that might affect the projects and look into its impact and chance of occurring

Next , we rank all those issue according to their importance and impact on the project

Lastly, we look deeper into the top 5 issues and further analyse the issue

From the top 5 issues we choose the top 2 issues and create an deeper analysis

1. Wrong choice of materials

The impact of having wrong choice of material will result in overspending and over shot the schedule time.

If Wrong material chosen, so we have to look for a new supplier to purchase the material and produce the goods all over again. This will result in extra expenditure for the company.
So it will increase the time spend to look for supplier to provide material. The company has to test the material to ensure it is suitable for making the hover board, once it is confirmed the company would have to awaiting the bulk purchase of the material to arrive and start to manufacture the product


2. Over spending

Once the budget is over spent, the project will lack of fund to continue, thus lead to project failure, unless new shareholder enter the business.

If the budget is overspent, the team would have to look for new shareholder/sponsors to fund the project. If fail to find sufficient funds the project would have to come to end.

This would lead to spending too much time in looking for new shareholders and delay the project schedule. Thus the company might not be able to deliver their product orders on time and might lead to law sue case or end up paying fines.
